Job Brief
As a Scrap Crane Operator, you will be responsible for operating mechanical boom and cable or tower and cable equipment to efficiently lift and move materials, machines, or products in various directions. This role requires a skilled individual with experience in industrial operations, crane mechanics, and safety protocols. You will play a crucial role in managing the logistics of scrap material handling, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and control scrap cranes to lift, move, and position materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on crane machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and ensure safe operation within the workplace.
- Coordinate with team members to manage workflow and effectively handle scrap materials.
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved and equipment usage for inventory management.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, reporting them to maintenance personnel as necessary.
- Adhere to all environmental regulations regarding the handling and disposal of scrap materials.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in crane operation preferred.
- Proven experience operating cranes, specifically in scrap handling or similar industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and crane operation techniques.
- Valid crane operator certification in accordance with local and federal regulations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
