As a Livestock Showman, you will play a crucial role in the preparation, handling, and showcasing of livestock at agricultural fairs and competitions. Responsibilities
- Prepare livestock for shows by grooming, feeding, and training animals to meet competition standards.
- Handle and manage animals during events, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Exhibit livestock with professionalism, showcasing their qualities to judges and the public.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock health, feeding schedules, and training progress.
- Collaborate with team members and livestock owners to strategize and improve exhibition techniques.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations while working with livestock.
- Assist in the set-up and breakdown of show equipment and stalls before and after events.
- Educate the public about livestock breeds, care, and agricultural practices during shows.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Animal Science or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience handling and caring for livestock in a competitive setting.
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry practices and livestock nutrition.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations pertaining to livestock care.
- Certifications in animal handling or first aid for livestock (preferred).
