Job Brief
The Yard Rigger is responsible for setting up, repairing, and maintaining rigging systems for various industries, including construction, manufacturing, logging, maritime, and entertainment. This role requires a skilled technician with hands-on experience in rigging techniques, safety protocols, and the operation of rigging equipment. Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair rigging equipment for diverse projects, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
- Inspect rigging equipment for wear and defects, performing necessary repairs or replacements.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to determine rigging requirements for specific tasks.
- Operate cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices to facilitate the movement of heavy materials.
- Conduct safety briefings and training sessions for team members on rigging procedures and safety practices.
- Document rigging procedures and maintain accurate records of inspections and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding rigging operations and safety measures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Yard Rigger or in a similar rigging role within the construction, maritime, or entertainment industries.
- Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, safety regulations, and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, plans, and schematics.
- Certification in rigging operations (e.g., NCCCO, OSHA) is preferred.
- Proficient in using rigging tools and equipment, including slings, hoists, and winches.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
