Job Brief

As a Wildlife Forensic Geneticist, you will play a crucial role in the intersection of wildlife conservation and criminal justice. Responsibilities

  • Conduct DNA analysis and genetic testing to determine species identity and individualization.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and wildlife organizations to assist in criminal investigations.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining methodologies and findings, presenting data in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Testify as an expert witness in court regarding evidence and forensic techniques.
  • Stay updated on advancements in forensic science and wildlife conservation to apply best practices.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and law enforcement personnel on forensic biology and evidence handling.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Forensic Science, Wildlife Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in forensic analysis, particularly in genetics and molecular biology.
  • Strong knowledge of wildlife laws and conservation practices.
  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques, including PCR, sequencing, and bioinformatics tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in court testimony as an expert witness is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and independently.
