Job Brief
The Web Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating various types of printing machines, including digital, letterpress, lithographic, flexographic, and gravure presses. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with hands-on experience in short-run offset printing and a strong understanding of printing processes and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain high-quality production standards while ensuring efficiency and safety in the printing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate printing machines for optimal performance and quality output.
- Operate digital, letterpress, lithographic, flexographic, and gravure printing presses.
- Monitor printing processes and make adjustments to ensure high-quality results.
- Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting on printing equipment.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate production records and log any issues encountered during operation.
- Train and mentor junior press operators and production staff as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in printing technology preferred.
- Proven experience as a Web Press Operator or in a similar printing role.
- Strong knowledge of various printing techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency in color management, prepress processes, and quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret job orders, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a printing facility.
