Job Brief
As a Self Propelled Mining Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of self-propelled mining machines that extract coal, metal, and nonmetal ores, as well as rock, stone, and sand from the mine face. This role requires a strong understanding of mining equipment operations, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Candidates should possess relevant experience in mining operations and demonstrate expertise in operating heavy machinery.
Responsibilities
- Operate self-propelled mining machines to rip and load materials onto conveyors, shuttle cars, or trucks.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of mining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow safety regulations and standard operating procedures to minimize hazards in the mining environment.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate mining activities and optimize production efficiency.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or issues to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics and machine operations.
- Assist in training new operators on equipment handling and safety practices.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a culture of safety within the mining operation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy machinery operation is preferred.
- Proven experience operating self-propelled mining machines or similar heavy equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mining operations and safety protocols.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on mining equipment.
- Valid operator’s license or relevant certifications for heavy machinery operation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively work in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including underground environments.
- Willingness to adhere to strict safety guidelines and participate in ongoing safety training.
