Job Brief
The Voice Professor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in vocal performance and pedagogy within the context of drama, music, and the arts. This role requires expertise in teaching various vocal techniques, music theory, and performance practices. Candidates should possess a strong background in vocal music education, with a Master’s degree or higher preferred. The ideal Voice Professor will have excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire students to achieve their artistic goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach courses in vocal performance, music theory, and related disciplines.
- Provide individualized vocal instruction and mentorship to students at various skill levels.
- Design and implement assessments to evaluate student progress and performance.
- Facilitate workshops, masterclasses, and performances to enhance students’ learning experiences.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to create interdisciplinary opportunities in the arts.
- Engage in scholarly research and contribute to the academic community through publications and presentations.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and program assessment initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in Music, Vocal Performance, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in vocal pedagogy and performance.
- Proficiency in various vocal styles and techniques, including classical, jazz, and contemporary.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, sight-singing, and ear training.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
