Job Brief
The Veterinary Lab Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare of animals by performing medical tests in a laboratory environment. Responsibilities
- Perform medical tests to diagnose and treat diseases in animals, including urinalysis and blood counts.
- Prepare vaccines and serums for the prevention of animal diseases.
- Collect and prepare tissue and blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and machines in accordance with safety standards.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory instruments and materials to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, providing necessary support and tools.
- Document test results and maintain accurate records of laboratory work.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary laboratory technology and techniques.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field; certification as a Veterinary Technician is preferred.
- Proven experience in a veterinary lab setting or related environment.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques, including phlebotomy and sample preparation.
- Familiarity with animal anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using laboratory software and data management systems.
