Job Brief
The Underwriting Account Representative evaluates insurance applications to assess risk and determine policy acceptance. Responsibilities
- Review and analyze insurance applications to evaluate the degree of risk involved.
- Determine the acceptance or rejection of applications based on established underwriting criteria.
- Collaborate with agents and clients to gather necessary information and clarify application details.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to support underwriting decisions.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize underwriting software and tools to facilitate evaluations and maintain accurate records.
- Stay updated on industry trends, risk factors, and regulatory changes impacting underwriting practices.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior underwriting staff as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in underwriting or a related field in the insurance industry.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance standards.
- Certifications such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Commercial Underwriting (ACU) are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
