Job Brief

As a Tugboat Captain, you will command and supervise the operations of tugboats and other water vessels, ensuring safe and efficient navigation in various maritime environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in maritime operations, excellent leadership skills, and a valid U.S. Coast Guard license. Your role will involve coordinating vessel movements, collaborating with crew members, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Command and navigate tugboats for towing and assisting larger vessels in ports and waterways.
  • Supervise crew members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the vessel to ensure seaworthiness and compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with harbor authorities and shipping companies for scheduling and logistics.
  • Communicate effectively with crew and other maritime personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Manage emergency situations by implementing safety procedures and providing first aid as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of navigation, vessel operations, and crew performance.

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard license for operating tugboats or equivalent vessels.
  • Proven experience in maritime navigation, preferably as a Tugboat Captain or equivalent role.
  • Strong understanding of navigation systems, maritime regulations, and safety practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for effective crew management.
  • Ability to work in challenging weather conditions and adapt to dynamic maritime environments.
  • Knowledge of vessel maintenance and operational procedures.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
