Job Brief
As a Trash Collector, you will play a vital role in maintaining community cleanliness and environmental sustainability by collecting refuse and recyclable materials from designated containers and transporting them to waste management facilities. This position requires physical stamina, a strong attention to safety protocols, and the ability to operate collection vehicles. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in waste management or refuse collection and possess a valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Collect trash and recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial locations efficiently.
- Operate and drive collection trucks while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Dump collected refuse into designated waste management facilities or transfer stations.
- Conduct routine inspections of collection equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
- Engage with the public in a courteous manner, providing information and assistance as needed.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols to minimize risks and hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of collection routes, materials collected, and any incidents encountered during shifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in waste collection, recycling, or similar roles is a plus.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy loads regularly.
- Demonstrated adherence to safety standards and protocols.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Familiarity with local waste management regulations and recycling practices is advantageous.
