Job Brief
The Trailhead Maintenance Worker is responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of outdoor trails and recreational areas. This role requires hands-on experience in landscape maintenance, trail construction, and repair, along with a strong understanding of environmental conservation practices. Ideal candidates will demonstrate proficiency in the use of maintenance tools and equipment, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular inspections of trails and recreational areas to assess conditions and identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain and repair trail surfaces, including clearing debris, repairing erosion, and managing vegetation growth.
- Utilize a variety of landscaping tools and machinery, ensuring proper operation and maintenance.
- Implement erosion control measures and environmental conservation practices to protect natural resources.
- Assist in the construction and installation of trail signage, barriers, and other infrastructure.
- Document maintenance activities and report findings to supervisors for further action.
- Collaborate with team members and volunteers to organize community trail cleanup and enhancement events.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices while working in outdoor environments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping preferred.
- Knowledge of trail maintenance techniques and environmental conservation principles.
- Proficiency in operating landscaping and maintenance equipment, such as chainsaws, brush cutters, and hand tools.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and community engagement.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record may be required.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
