Job Brief
The Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems and related equipment. Responsibilities
- Conduct field studies to assess traffic volume, speed, and signal effectiveness.
- Install, maintain, and repair traffic signal systems, including controllers and communication devices.
- Collaborate with traffic engineers to evaluate the adequacy of lighting and other factors influencing traffic conditions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in traffic signal equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and tests of traffic signals to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Respond to service calls and emergencies related to traffic signal failures.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in traffic signal technology.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electronics or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Traffic Signal Technician or similar role.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, traffic signal operations, and applicable codes.
- Familiarity with traffic management software and signal timing plans.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate construction vehicles safely.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certifications related to traffic signal maintenance or electrical work are a plus.
