Job Brief
As a Timber Hand, you will play a crucial role in the logging industry by assisting in the harvesting, processing, and transportation of timber products. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of safety practices. Ideal candidates should possess experience in forestry operations, knowledge of logging equipment, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the cutting, loading, and transporting of timber logs using appropriate machinery and tools.
- Operate chainsaws, skidders, and other logging equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards during logging operations.
- Inspect and maintain logging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members to execute logging plans and achieve production targets.
- Identify and report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools and machinery as needed.
- Assist with the inventory management of timber products and supplies.
Requirements
- Previous experience in logging, forestry, or a related field preferred.
- Proficient in operating logging machinery, including chainsaws and skidders.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in the logging industry.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles as needed.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus.
- Knowledge of timber species and grading standards is advantageous.
