Job Brief
The Elevator Service Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of electric or hydraulic freight and passenger elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters. This role requires a strong technical background, including experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical systems, as well as a commitment to safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will possess effective problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters according to specifications and safety codes.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues in elevator systems.
- Repair and replace defective components, including motors, pulleys, and control systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repair and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding elevator safety.
- Collaborate with contractors, building managers, and other technicians to coordinate service activities.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients regarding service updates and recommendations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in elevator maintenance preferred.
- Proven experience as an Elevator Technician or similar role in the elevator industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
