Job Brief
The Tenon Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining woodworking machines, including drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood nailing machines. This role requires proficiency in handling both manual and computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring high-quality wood production while adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate woodworking machines for optimal performance and precision.
- Operate CNC equipment to produce tenons and other wood components according to specifications.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust settings for accurate cutting and shaping.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.
- Document production metrics and report any issues to the production supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in woodworking or machinery operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Tenon Operator or in a similar woodworking role.
- Strong understanding of woodworking machinery and CNC operations.
- Familiarity with blueprints and technical drawings for woodworking projects.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to measurements and cuts.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in woodworking environments.
