Job Brief
The Surface Hydrologist will conduct comprehensive studies on the distribution, circulation, and physical properties of underground and surface waters. This role involves analyzing precipitation patterns, soil infiltration rates, and the movement of water through the earth, contributing to water resource management and environmental sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hydrology, environmental science, or a related field, with hands-on experience in field research and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field studies and collect data on surface water and groundwater systems.
- Analyze precipitation data and assess infiltration rates into various soil types.
- Utilize hydrological models to predict water movement and distribution patterns.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists to evaluate the impact of land use on water resources.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of water resources and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in hydrology and water management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in hydrological research and data analysis.
- Proficiency in using hydrological modeling software and GIS applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of water quality assessment techniques and environmental regulations.
- Certification as a Professional Hydrologist (PH) or similar credential is a plus.
