Job Brief
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Solid Waste Collector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient collection and transportation of refuse and recyclable materials from designated containers to waste disposal sites. The ideal candidate will have experience in waste management, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions. Responsibilities
- Collect refuse and recyclable materials from residential and commercial containers.
- Operate solid waste collection trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Dump collected materials into designated compartments of the truck.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols during collection operations.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on collection vehicles and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of collected materials and disposal locations.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding route changes and issues.
- Participate in training programs on waste management practices and safety protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.
- Prior experience in solid waste collection or waste management is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Effective communication skills for teamwork and customer interaction.
- Knowledge of local waste disposal regulations and environmental practices.
