Job Brief
As a Sod Layer, you will be responsible for landscape maintenance and enhancement of property grounds using both hand and power tools. Your primary duties will include laying sod, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, and installing irrigation systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of landscaping practices, and the ability to work effectively in outdoor environments. Prior experience in landscape maintenance or related fields is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently lay sod to establish lush, healthy lawns in residential and commercial spaces.
- Mow and trim grass areas to maintain neat and attractive landscapes.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees according to seasonal requirements and landscape design.
- Water plants and lawns regularly to ensure optimal growth and health.
- Fertilize soil and plants to promote healthy growth and enhance soil quality.
- Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively for various landscaping tasks.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinklers and hoses.
- Perform digging, raking, and leveling tasks to prepare for planting or sod installation.
- Assist in the installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or sod installation is preferred.
- Knowledge of various planting techniques and soil management practices.
- Ability to operate landscaping equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Understanding of irrigation systems and their installation and maintenance.
- Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation of equipment.
