Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Smelter Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will operate and tend various types of furnaces, including electric-arc, electric induction, and open-hearth furnaces, to effectively melt and refine metals. Responsibilities
- Operate furnaces to melt and refine metals, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor furnace operations, adjusting temperatures and controls to achieve desired metal properties.
- Perform routine maintenance on smelting equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Inspect molten metal for quality assurance, conducting tests to verify composition and purity.
- Document production processes, including material usage and furnace performance metrics.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in metallurgy or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Smelter Operator or in a similar role within the metal production industry.
- Strong understanding of furnace operations and metallurgical principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in metal production.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as required.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
