Job Brief

The Sheet Metal Layout Worker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing various sheet metal products and equipment, including ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. This role requires proficiency in operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal, as well as experience in shaping and joining metal using welding and soldering techniques. Ideal candidates should possess strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Operate fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal materials.
  • Shape metal using hammers, anvils, blocks, or other forms to achieve desired configurations.
  • Utilize welding and soldering equipment to join sheet metal parts securely.
  • Inspect, assemble, and smooth seams and joints of sheet metal components for quality assurance.
  • Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts and systems for heating, air conditioning, or ventilation purposes.
  • Maintain and repair existing sheet metal products and installations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout all work processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in sheet metal work preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Layout Worker or similar role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, tools, and machinery.
  • Familiarity with welding and soldering methods, with applicable certifications preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for job site visits.
