Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Log Loader Operator to efficiently operate a logging tractor or wheeled vehicle with various attachments, including bulldozer blades, grapples, and cranes. The ideal candidate will have experience in felling trees, skidding, loading, and unloading logs, as well as performing tasks such as pulling stumps and clearing brush. Proficiency in using stand-alone logging machines, such as log chippers, is essential. This role requires strong attention to safety and operational guidelines in the forestry industry.
Responsibilities
- Operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles equipped with various attachments to fell trees and manage logs.
- Skid, load, unload, and stack logs while ensuring efficient and safe operations.
- Utilize equipment such as bulldozer blades, frontal shears, grapples, and cable winches for land clearing and log handling.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on logging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while operating machinery in a logging environment.
- Coordinate with team members to plan and execute logging operations effectively.
- Record operational activities and report any issues or malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Log Loader Operator or in a similar role within the forestry or logging industry.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred; ability to operate heavy machinery is essential.
- Strong knowledge of logging equipment and machinery operation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work in various environmental conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
