Job Brief
As a Sheet Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing a variety of sheet metal products and equipment. This role requires expertise in operating fabricating machines and hand tools to cut, bend, and shape sheet metal into functional components such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Ideal candidates will possess technical skills in welding, soldering, and seam inspection, along with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate sheet metal products by cutting, bending, and shaping materials using various machines and hand tools.
- Assemble and install sheet metal components, including ducts for heating and air conditioning systems.
- Repair and maintain existing sheet metal products and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate welding and soldering equipment to join sheet metal parts securely.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
- Smooth seams and joints of burred surfaces for a clean finish.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and other trades to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Fabricator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in using metal fabricating tools, machines, and equipment, including shears, brakes, and plasma cutters.
- Strong knowledge of welding and soldering techniques, with certifications being a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and manual dexterity.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in sheet metal fabrication.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in metal fabrication is preferred.
