Job Brief

The Sewer Cleaner plays a crucial role in maintaining and restoring the integrity of sewer systems, drains, and septic tanks. This position involves performing cleaning, repair, and maintenance tasks to ensure effective waste management and sanitation. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough cleaning and maintenance of septic tanks, sewer lines, and drains to prevent blockages and ensure efficient flow.
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as high-pressure water jets and vacuum trucks to remove debris and waste materials.
  • Inspect and diagnose issues within sewer systems, identifying damage and necessary repairs.
  • Repair broken pipes, replace damaged drain tiles, and patch walls or partitions of tanks as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and environmental standards while performing tasks.
  • Document work performed, including repairs and maintenance activities, for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to coordinate repair and cleaning schedules.
  • Participate in ongoing training and safety programs to maintain knowledge of industry best practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in plumbing or waste management is preferred.
  • Proven experience in sewer cleaning, plumbing, or similar roles.
  • Knowledge of sewer systems, drain cleaning techniques, and septic tank maintenance.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment, including safety gear.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
