Job Brief
The Sewage Screen Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of sewage treatment systems and equipment. This role involves cleaning and repairing septic tanks, sewer lines, and drains while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on experience in sewage operations and demonstrate strong technical skills in plumbing and repair techniques.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor sewage treatment machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair of septic tanks, sewer lines, and drains.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with underground piping and drainage systems.
- Patch walls and partitions of tanks, ensuring structural integrity and compliance.
- Replace damaged drain tiles and repair breaks in piping to prevent leaks and system failures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed on equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all operations.
- Collaborate with team members and provide training on equipment operation and safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in plumbing or sewage systems preferred.
- Proven experience as a Sewage Screen Operator or similar role within wastewater management.
- Strong knowledge of sewage treatment processes, plumbing systems, and repair techniques.
- Familiarity with safety standards and environmental regulations related to sewage operations.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments and confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks as required.
