Job Brief
As a School Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related activities. This role demands a high level of attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations to ensure the well-being of passengers. Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules and safety procedures.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate authorities promptly.
- Manage student behavior on the bus and apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Follow established routes and schedules, making adjustments as needed due to traffic or weather conditions.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Experience driving large vehicles, preferably in a school or public transportation setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to manage student behavior and maintain a positive environment.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Pass a background check and drug screening as required by law.
