Job Brief
As a School Bus Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of school buses through thorough inspections and evaluations. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of transportation safety regulations. Ideal candidates will possess relevant experience in vehicle inspection and maintenance, along with strong analytical skills to detect potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation laws.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections of school buses to assess safety, mechanical performance, and compliance with regulations.
- Identify and document deficiencies or violations in safety equipment and operational procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Collaborate with transportation departments to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken.
- Stay updated on relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices in vehicle inspection.
- Provide training and guidance to bus drivers and maintenance personnel on safety protocols.
- Prepare reports on inspection results and communicate findings to management and stakeholders.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in vehicle inspection or maintenance preferred.
- Proven experience in vehicle inspection, particularly with school buses or commercial vehicles.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify safety hazards and recommend solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and training.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection schedules.
- Valid driver’s license; additional certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are a plus.
