Job Brief
As a Road Patcher, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of highways, municipal and rural roads, and airport runways. Your primary responsibilities will include patching broken or eroded pavement, repairing guard rails, highway markers, and snow fences, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in road maintenance, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate heavy machinery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and assessments of road conditions to identify areas requiring patching or repairs.
- Perform pavement patching using appropriate materials and techniques to restore road surfaces.
- Repair and maintain guard rails, highway markers, and snow fences to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Clear brush and mow along road rights-of-way to enhance visibility and safety.
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, and snowplows for road maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize and execute maintenance projects efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance duties.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and materials used for reporting purposes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience in road maintenance or a related field.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in road work.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required.
