Job Brief
The Residence Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of resident facilities such as secondary school and college dormitories or group homes. This role involves coordinating activities, managing supplies, and ensuring the maintenance and repair of facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience in resident life management or community support services.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate resident activities and programs to foster community engagement and personal development.
- Manage the ordering of supplies and oversee maintenance requests to ensure a safe and functional living environment.
- Assign rooms and maintain accurate household records, including resident check-in and check-out processes.
- Provide guidance and problem-solving assistance to residents, referring them to appropriate counseling resources as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote a positive living experience for residents.
- Collaborate with other staff and departments to enhance resident services and support.
- Facilitate conflict resolution among residents and mediate disputes effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in residence life management, student affairs, or community support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with diverse resident populations.
- Proficient in administrative tasks, including record-keeping and maintenance coordination.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by resident activities.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies and crisis intervention techniques.
- Competency in using computer software for record management and communication.
