Job Brief
As a Research Hydraulic Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the planning, designing, and overseeing of construction and maintenance of various infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, dams, and water management systems. This position requires a solid foundation in hydraulic engineering principles, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in civil or hydraulic engineering and have experience in project management, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct hydraulic modeling and simulations to assess water flow and drainage systems.
- Design and analyze hydraulic structures including dams, levees, and flood control systems.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, environmental scientists, and construction teams to deliver comprehensive project plans.
- Oversee field investigations and data collection to support engineering analyses.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project proposals and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding water resources and environmental protection.
- Implement innovative solutions to optimize water management and sustainability practices.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in hydraulic engineering and related fields.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in hydraulic engineering design and project management.
- Strong proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in hydraulic engineering.
