Job Brief

The Relay Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment in generating stations, substations, and in-service relays. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and protective relay operation, as well as hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintaining high-voltage electrical equipment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and maintain electrical relay systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on various electrical equipment in generating stations and substations.
  • Document maintenance and repair procedures, including test results and recommendations.
  • Calibrate and configure protective relays and communication devices.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards while working on high-voltage equipment.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and emergency response as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in electrical systems is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Relay Technician or in a related electrical maintenance role.
  • Strong knowledge of relay testing and maintenance procedures, including ANSI and IEC standards.
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and relay test sets.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and communication protocols is a plus.
  • Valid electrical license or certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
