Job Brief

As a Registered Medical Transcriptionist, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare documentation process by transcribing medical reports recorded by physicians and other healthcare professionals. This position requires proficiency in converting dictation into accurate written form, utilizing various electronic devices and software. You will be responsible for ensuring the clarity and accuracy of medical documentation, including office visits, emergency room consultations, diagnostic imaging reports, and surgical summaries. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent language skills, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Transcribe dictated medical reports with precision and clarity, covering a full range of healthcare services.
  • Edit and proofread transcripts to ensure adherence to medical documentation standards and accuracy.
  • Translate medical abbreviations and terminology into full-text format for comprehensive understanding.
  • Return completed reports in either printed or electronic formats for review and physician signatures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any unclear dictation or terminology.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information.
  • Stay updated with industry changes, medical terminology, and transcription software advancements.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to input and manage patient data efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical transcription training program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) certification is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in medical transcription or a related role, with a strong portfolio of work.
  • Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
  • Strong typing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
