Responsibilities
- Prepare dental equipment and instruments for procedures, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, providing support and ensuring patient comfort.
- Prepare patients for treatments by explaining procedures and answering questions to alleviate anxiety.
- Provide patients with post-treatment care instructions for optimal oral health maintenance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage follow-ups to ensure timely care delivery.
- Handle billing and coding for insurance claims, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and restocking dental supplies as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program preferred.
- Valid state certification or registration as a Dental Assistant.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Proficiency in using dental software for record-keeping and billing purposes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a dental office setting is preferred, but not mandatory.
