Job Brief
As a Refrigeration Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cooling and freezing equipment, including refrigerators, batch freezers, and freezing tunnels. Your expertise will ensure the proper cooling or freezing of products such as food, blood plasma, and chemicals, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in refrigeration technology, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor refrigeration equipment to ensure optimal performance and product safety.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of cooling and freezing units to prevent equipment failures.
- Adjust settings and controls on refrigeration systems to maintain required temperature levels.
- Document and report any malfunctions or discrepancies in equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations regarding the handling and storage of temperature-sensitive products.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior staff in best practices for refrigeration operations.
- Maintain accurate records of temperatures, maintenance, and production outputs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in refrigeration or HVAC preferred.
- Proven experience as a Refrigeration Operator or similar role in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting refrigeration systems, including compressors and evaporators.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in refrigeration operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends if required.
