Job Brief
As a Refrigerating Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and tending to various cooling and freezing equipment, including refrigerators, batch freezers, and freezing tunnels. Your primary role involves maintaining optimal temperatures to effectively cool or freeze products such as food, blood plasma, and chemicals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of refrigeration systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain refrigeration units, including cooling systems and batch freezers.
- Monitor and adjust temperature settings to ensure product integrity during cooling and freezing processes.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment.
- Document operational data and report any malfunctions or inefficiencies to management.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production schedules and equipment usage.
- Respond promptly to equipment alarms and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in refrigeration is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Refrigerating Machine Operator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with safety practices related to refrigeration and handling hazardous materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Certification in refrigeration technology (e.g., EPA Section 608) is a plus.
