Job Brief
As a Recyclable Materials Collector, you will play a vital role in promoting sustainability by collecting, transporting, and dumping refuse or recyclable materials from designated containers into trucks. Responsibilities
- Collect recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial locations using appropriate collection methods.
- Operate collection vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.
- Dump collected refuse and recyclable materials into designated trucks or processing facilities.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on collection vehicles to ensure operational safety.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding collection schedules and any issues encountered.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all equipment is properly stored after use.
- Educate customers on proper recycling practices and encourage community participation in recycling programs.
- Document collection activities and maintain accurate records of materials collected and disposed of.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in waste management or recycling is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks regularly.
- Strong knowledge of recycling procedures and environmental regulations.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic mechanical skills for performing routine vehicle maintenance.
