Job Brief
As a Range Scientist, you will play a crucial role in managing and conserving natural resources to enhance their sustainable use while protecting the environment. This position requires a strong understanding of soil science, rangeland management, and conservation practices. You will be responsible for conducting soil surveys, developing strategies to combat soil erosion, and providing guidance to farmers and ranchers on best practices for crop rotation, irrigation, and livestock management. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive soil surveys to assess soil health and structure.
- Develop and implement management plans to prevent soil erosion and maintain rangeland integrity.
- Advise farmers and ranchers on sustainable land use practices, including crop rotation and contour plowing.
- Provide guidance on the selection of appropriate livestock and forage plants for specific rangeland conditions.
- Educate agricultural stakeholders on conservation techniques to enhance soil and water resources.
- Collaborate with environmental organizations to promote sustainable land management practices.
- Monitor and analyze ecological data to inform land management decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Range Science, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in soil management, rangeland ecology, or agricultural consulting.
- Strong knowledge of conservation practices and environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with experience in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing technologies is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
