Job Brief
The Rail Car Loader is responsible for efficiently loading and unloading chemicals and bulk solids such as coal, sand, and grain into or from rail cars, trucks, or ships, utilizing material moving equipment. Responsibilities
- Operate material moving equipment to load and unload bulk materials safely and efficiently.
- Gauge and sample shipping tanks, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Inspect rail cars and containers for leaks and other potential hazards before loading.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize loading operations and minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform routine maintenance and checks on loading equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Assist in other shipping and receiving tasks as needed to support logistics operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in material handling preferred.
- Proven experience in loading and unloading bulk materials or similar roles.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance standards in a shipping environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material moving equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow operational procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials as required.
