Job Brief
The Radiological Control and Safety Technician plays a critical role in maintaining safety standards in environments where hazardous materials are present. Responsibilities
- Identify and assess hazardous materials in various environments to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Remove and properly dispose of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, and contaminated soil.
- Pack and transport hazardous substances safely to designated disposal sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure adherence to environmental and safety standards.
- Operate earth-moving equipment and trucks as required for the safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials handling and disposal activities.
- Collaborate with environmental safety teams to develop and implement safety protocols.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on hazardous materials handling and safety procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in environmental science or a related field preferred.
- Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling and confined space entry.
- Proven experience in radiological safety, hazardous waste management, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for hazardous materials handling.
- Ability to operate earth-moving equipment and trucks; valid driver’s license required.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to undergo ongoing training and certification as needed.
