Job Brief
The Radioisotope Technologist is responsible for preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies. Responsibilities
- Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials in compliance with established safety standards.
- Administer radioactive isotopes to patients, ensuring accurate dosage calculations in collaboration with radiologists.
- Measure and record the distribution of radioisotopes within the body using advanced detection equipment.
- Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory protocols.
- Maintain and calibrate radioisotope equipment to guarantee optimal performance and safety.
- Document all procedures and results, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with medical staff to discuss findings and improve patient care strategies.
- Stay updated on advancements in radioisotope technology and best practices in the field.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiological Science, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field.
- Certification as a Radioisotope Technologist or equivalent credential preferred.
- Proven experience in handling radioactive materials and operating related equipment.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and laboratory techniques.
- Ability to perform complex calculations for dosage and measurement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a clinical setting.
