Job Brief

The Radioisotope Technologist is responsible for preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies. This role requires proficiency in utilizing various radioisotope equipment while ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities

  • Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials in compliance with established safety standards.
  • Administer radioactive isotopes to patients, ensuring accurate dosage calculations in collaboration with radiologists.
  • Measure and record the distribution of radioisotopes within the body using advanced detection equipment.
  • Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory protocols.
  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope equipment to guarantee optimal performance and safety.
  • Document all procedures and results, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to discuss findings and improve patient care strategies.
  • Stay updated on advancements in radioisotope technology and best practices in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiological Science, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Radioisotope Technologist or equivalent credential preferred.
  • Proven experience in handling radioactive materials and operating related equipment.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to perform complex calculations for dosage and measurement.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a clinical setting.
