Job Brief
As a Radio Mechanic, you will be responsible for the repair, installation, and maintenance of mobile and stationary radio transmitting, broadcasting, and receiving equipment. This role involves working with two-way radio communications systems utilized in cellular telecommunications, mobile broadband, ship-to-shore, and aircraft-to-ground communications. You will analyze and test network coverage to ensure optimal performance of radio equipment used in service and emergency vehicles. A strong background in radio technology and troubleshooting is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain radio transmission and reception systems, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Install and configure mobile and stationary radio equipment for various communication needs.
- Conduct testing and analysis of network coverage to identify and resolve performance issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in two-way radio communications systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to radio communications.
- Provide technical support and training to users of radio communication equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electronics or radio technology preferred.
- Proven experience as a Radio Mechanic or similar role within the telecommunications industry.
- Strong knowledge of radio frequency principles and two-way radio systems.
- Familiarity with mobile broadband and cellular telecommunications technology.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting radio equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for on-site installations and repairs.
