Job Brief

As a Rabbi, you will lead religious worship and perform essential spiritual functions aligned with the beliefs and practices of the Jewish faith. This role requires deep theological knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing spiritual and moral guidance to congregants. You will engage with community members, offer counseling, and facilitate educational programs, fostering a vibrant spiritual environment that promotes growth and understanding within the faith.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct religious services, including Shabbat and holiday observances, in accordance with Jewish customs and traditions.
  • Provide pastoral care, spiritual counseling, and moral guidance to individuals and families within the congregation.
  • Lead educational programs and classes for various age groups to enhance understanding of Jewish texts, traditions, and values.
  • Engage with community members to build relationships and foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
  • Oversee lifecycle events such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, and funerals, ensuring they align with religious practices.
  • Collaborate with synagogue leadership and committees to develop programs that meet the spiritual and educational needs of the community.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to connect with the broader community and promote interfaith dialogue.
  • Stay current with contemporary issues affecting the Jewish community and provide relevant guidance and support.

Requirements

  • Ordination as a Rabbi from an accredited seminary or rabbinical school.
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish texts, laws, and traditions.
  • Experience in conducting religious services and leading educational programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to connect with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated pastoral care experience and the ability to provide emotional support.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with synagogue leadership and community organizations.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and engagement with current issues in the Jewish community.
