Job Brief
The Pulmonary Function Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic tests on patients’ pulmonary and cardiovascular systems. This role requires expertise in conducting pulmonary function tests, lung capacity assessments, and electrocardiograms, among other procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care, with a focus on providing accurate data to aid healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating respiratory conditions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pulmonary function tests and interpret results to assist in diagnosing respiratory disorders.
- Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs) and monitor cardiac function during procedures.
- Administer and assist in lung capacity tests and related assessments.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Document and report test findings in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Educate patients on test procedures and provide support throughout the testing process.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop treatment plans based on diagnostic results.
- Stay updated on advancements in pulmonary and cardiovascular technologies and methodologies.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Function Technology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or equivalent credential is preferred.
- Proven experience in performing pulmonary function tests and related diagnostics.
- Strong understanding of respiratory anatomy and physiology, as well as cardiovascular systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using medical software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
