Job Brief

We are seeking a dedicated Public School Speech Therapist to assess and treat students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech therapy, including the ability to select and implement alternative communication systems. This role requires collaboration with educators and parents to enhance students’ communication skills and overall academic performance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students to identify speech and language disorders and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide direct therapy to students, focusing on improving speech clarity, language comprehension, and fluency.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques to facilitate speech and language development.
  • Recommend and teach the use of alternative communication systems and assistive technology.
  • Monitor and document students’ progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary based on assessment results.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students’ communication needs.
  • Conduct research on speech and language issues to contribute to the field of speech therapy.
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with advancements in speech-language pathology.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Speech Therapist.
  • Strong understanding of speech and language development in children.
  • Experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Familiarity with assessment tools and therapeutic practices in speech therapy.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in the field.
