Job Brief

As a Prison Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining safety and security within correctional facilities by supervising inmates and enforcing institutional regulations. This role requires a vigilant and proactive approach to manage inmates effectively, ensuring compliance with operational procedures. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise inmate activities to prevent disturbances and ensure compliance with facility regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify security risks and maintain safety protocols.
  • Assist in the transportation of inmates between various locations, such as courts and medical facilities, ensuring secure handling.
  • Enforce rules and regulations, documenting incidents and reporting any violations to management.
  • Maintain accurate records of inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and rehabilitation staff to promote inmate rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution to address inmate disputes and maintain order.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to correctional facility operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid certification or training in correctional officer or law enforcement practices.
  • Previous experience in a correctional setting or law enforcement is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with inmates, staff, and external agencies.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical fitness and ability to handle emergency situations appropriately.
  • Understanding of legal regulations and ethical standards related to corrections.
  • Proficient in using security technology and equipment, including surveillance systems.
