Job Brief

As a Polysomnograph Tech, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders by conducting sleep studies and monitoring patients’ physiological data. This position requires proficiency in operating polysomnography equipment, interpreting data, and ensuring patient comfort during sleep studies. Ideal candidates should have a background in healthcare technology, excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Experience in a clinical setting and relevant certifications, such as Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and monitor overnight sleep studies to assess patients’ sleep patterns and disorders.
  • Set up and calibrate polysomnography equipment, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
  • Collect and analyze data, including EEG, EOG, EMG, and other physiological parameters.
  • Prepare detailed reports of sleep study findings for review by physicians.
  • Educate patients on the sleep study process and provide pre- and post-study instructions.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot polysomnography equipment and software.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a sleep lab or clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of sleep disorders and sleep study protocols.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot polysomnography and related diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred.
