Job Brief

As a Playwright, you will be responsible for originating and crafting compelling written material, including scripts, stories, and theatrical works. This role requires a strong understanding of dramatic structure and character development, along with the ability to convey complex emotions and narratives through dialogue. Ideal candidates will possess experience in theater production, collaboration with directors and actors, and a passion for storytelling. Strong editing and revision skills are essential to refine scripts for performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop original scripts and narratives for theatrical productions, ensuring alignment with artistic vision.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and actors to interpret and enhance script elements.
  • Conduct research to create authentic and engaging dialogue, settings, and character arcs.
  • Revise and edit scripts based on feedback from rehearsals and production needs.
  • Participate in workshops and readings to evaluate the effectiveness of written material.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, audience preferences, and new writing techniques.
  • Attend performances and provide insightful analysis to improve future works.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Creative Writing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Playwright or in a similar role within theater production.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing original scripts and completed works.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • Familiarity with script formatting and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of theatrical production processes and terminology.
