Job Brief
As a Pedorthist, you will play a crucial role in designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting orthopedic braces, appliances, and prostheses for patients with disabling conditions. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ orthopedic needs and functional limitations.
- Design and fabricate custom orthopedic devices, including braces and prostheses, tailored to individual specifications.
- Measure and fit orthopedic appliances to ensure optimal comfort and functionality.
- Educate patients and caregivers on the use, care, and maintenance of orthotic devices.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and physical therapists, to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress and device adjustments.
- Stay current with industry advancements and best practices in pedorthics and orthopedic technology.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols in all procedures.
Requirements
- Certification as a Pedorthist from an accredited organization (e.g., ABC, BOC).
- Proven experience in designing and fitting orthopedic devices in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy, and orthotic principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficiency in using various orthotic fabrication tools and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in device customization.
