Pediatric Vascular Surgeons play a critical role in diagnosing and treating complex conditions affecting the vascular system in fetuses, newborns, children, and adolescents. Responsibilities
- Diagnose vascular conditions in pediatric patients, including fetuses, infants, and adolescents.
- Perform surgical interventions to treat congenital and acquired vascular abnormalities.
- Utilize advanced imaging techniques to guide surgical planning and execution.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Monitor and manage post-operative care to ensure optimal recovery and outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, and expectations.
- Participate in ongoing research and clinical trials to advance pediatric vascular surgery.
- Stay current with advancements in pediatric surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a residency in General Surgery followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Vascular Surgery.
- Board certification in Pediatric Surgery or eligibility for certification.
- Proven experience in performing complex vascular surgeries in pediatric populations.
- Strong understanding of pediatric anatomy and surgical techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and family engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Current state medical license and relevant certifications in pediatric advanced life support (PALS).
