As a Pallbearer, you will play a vital role in honoring the deceased by assisting with funeral services. This position requires physical strength, compassion, and professionalism to guide mourners and manage the casket during the ceremony. Successful candidates will demonstrate a respectful demeanor and the ability to work seamlessly with funeral directors and staff. A background in funeral services or related fields is preferred, along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carefully place the casket in the parlor or chapel prior to the service.
  • Arrange floral offerings and lights around the casket to create a respectful atmosphere.
  • Direct and escort mourners to their seats, ensuring a supportive and dignified experience.
  • Assist in closing the casket during the service and at the gravesite.
  • Issue and store funeral equipment, maintaining organization and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with funeral home staff to ensure smooth service execution.
  • Provide emotional support to grieving families and friends as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety and health regulations while performing duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in funeral services is a plus.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects such as caskets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to grieving families.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of funeral service protocols and etiquette is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
